ニュージーランドアオバズクの説明

中型のフクロウ。和名の語尾が「○○ズク」となっているが頭にミミズク特有の羽角はない。

ニュージーランド原産の唯一の種で、日本で見られるアオバズクとは別種である。ペットとして流通しているのは「アオバズク」ではなく「ニュージーランドアオバズク」である。

Explanation of an owl

Medium-sized owl. The ending of the Japanese name is “〇〇 zuku”, but there is no feather horn specific to the owl in the head.

It is the only species native to New Zealand and. It is a different species from the Brown hawk-owl found in Japan. It is not “Brown hawk-owl” but “Morepork” that is distributed as a pet.
