ワシミミズクの説明
世界最大の超大型フクロウ。身体は茶系に濃い茶褐色が混じっている。
画像右に写り込んでいるのは大型種の「ベンガルワシミミズク」だが、その体格差は歴然としている。
縄張り意識が強く、ヨーロッパに棲息するフクロウのなかで一番他の種類のフクロウを襲うとされている。絶対に小型種を近づけてはいけない。
英名が「Eurasian eagle owl」であることから、「ユーラシアワシミミズク」ともよばれる。
超大型種のシベリアワシミミズクはワシミミズクの亜種である。
Explanation of an owl
